CustomWorks has significantly sped up our workflow. It allows batch-based printing and other operations that previously had to be done manually.
What surprised me about CustomWorks was how configurable it is. I used to think it could only save files in PDF and DXF formats, but it supports much more than that.
CustomWorks has become such a natural part of the package that you don't even think of it as a separate application.

CustomWorks integrates seamlessly into SOLIDWORKS and automatically generates item structures that follow company standards as part of the design process. Items become consistent and duplicates are reduced, which improves the quality and usability of product data. Data is available across the organization from design to procurement and manufacturing, shortening design lead times.
CustomWorks guides users to enter required item data in the correct and consistent format. Dimensional data is linked directly from the 3D model, so all changes are automatically reflected in the bill of materials (BOM) without manual updates. This ensures that all data stored in the 3D model is reliable, consistent, and meets company standards.

The Gold certification demonstrates that CustomWorks meets the quality and compatibility requirements set by SOLIDWORKS. CustomWorks operates natively within the SOLIDWORKS environment, using its user interface and data structures directly. CustomWorks is configured to match each company's specific needs. The data fields, data content, item structures, and file formats can all be defined as required. The add-in integrates with the company's other information systems, making it straightforward to use. Accessing and using data does not require CAD expertise, as the application automatically generates the required drawings, lists, and printouts.
CustomWorks is a commercial SOLIDWORKS add-in where company-specific functionality is enabled through built-in features, without custom programming or separate software installations. All changes and new functionality are developed as part of the application, so all customers benefit from every improvement. No customer-specific code modifications or separate versions are needed. Updates are included in supported software releases and are available to all CustomWorks users.
CustomWorks Supports Every Phase of the Project
- CustomWorks enters and edits attribute data for an entire assembly structure in a single operation. Attribute data is conveniently added to 3D models using drop-down menus.
- CustomWorks generates listings easily by displaying data stored in the 3D model in the required format.
- CustomWorks generates a document list directly from the 3D assembly model and prints all part drawings with a single click.
- CustomWorks calculates the quantity of parts to be manufactured and adds this information to all part drawings.
- Existing design data can be reused as the basis for the next project. Files can be copied, updated, renamed, and saved in a consistent manner.
Filename Automation
CustomWorks automatically generates new drawing numbers or item codes using a defined logic and populates the filename directly in the SOLIDWORKS Save As dialog. Duplicate names and non-unique filenames such as "frame.sldprt" are eliminated.
Item data is automatically populated in drawing templates and bills of materials (BOMs). Data is consistent and high quality, and transfers reliably between systems.
File Conversion Automation
CustomWorks automatically saves PDF, DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES, and other file formats to the correct locations with the correct filenames. Even large assemblies can be saved completely with a single click.
Documents and drawings are readily available in the correct format for procurement, manufacturing, communications, and archiving.
Component Classification
A dynamic user interface, configurable per customer and item type, guides users to enter the required information in the correct format. All data fields and items are selectable and editable by category. Required fields, mandatory inputs, and numbering and naming structures can be defined per category.
Entering data and accessing category-specific information becomes more efficient.
Classified BOM Export
Bills of materials (BOMs) are exported for manufacturing and procurement with data classified according to customer-defined classification criteria (see Component Classification).
BOMs are delivered in the format and level of detail required by each user.
Batch Printing
CustomWorks automates the printing of project documents. All project drawings can be printed with a single click.
Printing does not require CAD expertise.
ERP Item Structure Automation
CustomWorks automatically generates an item structure for export to an ERP system. The structure is built from the CAD assembly and component metadata.
CustomWorks connects SOLIDWORKS with the company's other information systems. Using data in other systems does not require CAD expertise, as data transfer takes place automatically in the background.
Smart Copy to Re-Use Existing Data
Previously designed models or parts can be copied into a new model or product version directly from the CustomWorks user interface.
Duplicate work is reduced and creating product variants becomes straightforward.
CustomWorks Carries the Key Flag Symbol product
CustomWorks has been awarded the Key Flag Symbol as recognition of Finnish work and expertise. The development, maintenance, and customer support of the add-in are carried out entirely in Finland, meeting the domestic origin requirements for the Key Flag Symbol.
The Key Flag Symbol is granted by the Association for Finnish Work.
